Over the years, some of my favorite pictures are the one I captured while I was just playing around with my camera. The pictures included in the section have been taken with a variety of different lenses, from macro to a telescope, resulting in some fun, creative shots.
The moon pictures in this series were taken with my telescope. The first one I ever took was that of a Blood Moon when it was visible several years ago here in Oregon. I actually used my iphone camera to take this picture and was quite pleased with artistic feel of the final product. I have since been able to attach my camera to the telescope now and look forward to exploring this new lens.
I’ve lately been playing around with macro lenses and have discovered a wonderful new world of photography. I was asked to donate a piece of art to a fundraiser and I quickly jumped on the chance to do something different. I donated a picture of a purple lady slipper, titling the piece “Slipping Into Spring” as they can only be found in the woods during spring season. The actual flower is about the size of a quarter, as is the red orchid in this series. Both taken with a macro lens, introducing a new point of view and bringing them life in a creative way.
